Advances in recreational boat technology over the last decade have been unprecedented. Features like digital switching were previously only found on larger vessels. This innovation gave designers the ability to combine complicated circuits into a single, computer-controlled system. This allowed captains to activate multiple circuits with the touch of one button. Now that same boat tech can be experienced on select Harris pontoon models thanks to the CZone digital switching system.
With CZone digital switching, the devices on your Harris boat connect to a central “backbone” that allows certain devices to communicate with each other. On a CZone-equipped Harris pontoon boat, all devices connected to this common system can be controlled by a Simrad multifunction display at the helm like the GO7 or GO9 displays found on the Solstice and Grand Mariner models.
Pontoon technology advances have radically changed what modern boats are capable of. For instance, the newly reimagined Harris Grand Mariner comes standard with an impressive array of interior lighting along with a JL Audio stereo system that lets you create a vibe—whether you want a soothing atmosphere or party energy.
The optional Ion Tower adds four more lighting panels that display a wide variety of colors and intensity. Instead of having to turn each lighting component on, CZone allows the driver to simply tap the screen on the Simrad Touchscreen Display. GO7 is standard, GO9 and Dual GO9 are options. You can select select “Party Mode,” “Swimming Mode,” “Cruising Mode,” and more. The lighting can also be controlled remotely by a key fob that allows users to activate it as they are walking down the dock toward the boat for easier boarding at night.
In addition to providing an easy way to connect all electrical devices, CZone has a feature called load shedding, that will shut down non-essential systems when it detects low battery levels that could impact the ability to start the engine(s). So, after hanging out at the sandbar all day with the optional refrigerator on and the stereo cranking, there won’t be an unpleasant surprise when the driver turns the ignition key to head home.
As part of its New Wave Strategy, Brunswick, which owns Harris and other brands like Mercury Marine, has spent nearly $1 billion in 2018 to acquire Power Products, which included 11 top technology platforms including CZone. In October 2021, it spent more than $1 billion to acquire Navico, which includes Simrad, Lowrance and B&G. The goal is to connect the next generation of technologies with their customers to provide a unique marine experience, and Harris is at the forefront of that revolution.
