Is anything better than kicking back in the luxury lounger on your Harris pontoon, shaded by the Bimini top as a cool breeze flows through? We say no way! But before you can relax to the max, you’ll need the ideal Bimini aboard. And figuring out how to choose a Bimini top will take a bit of consideration because there are lots of options.
Depending on the model, your choices may include a standard Bimini top, a Power Bimini, a Tower Bimini, a Lighted Bimini, or a double Bimini. Some of these options mix and match, but that’s not always the case. You can’t get a double Bimini with a Power Bimini, for example, but you can get a double Bimini with the Tower option. So, how do these options differ?
Standard Bimini – The Standard Bimini top comes in 10’ and (on larger models) 12’ sizes. For the average pontoon boater, these are ideal.
Power Bimini – A Power Bimini allows you to raise and lower the top at the press of a button. If you need to raise and lower the top often due to low bridges, regular trailering, or docking, an electric Power Bimini makes life a little bit easier.
Tower Bimini – People usually opt for a Tower Bimini because they or their family enjoy watersports. Having the elevated tow point on a tower can make for higher jumps and rad tricks — plus they add a sporty look to your pontoon boat.
Lighted Bimini – If you enjoy boating after dark in a colorful glow, you might want to get a lighted Bimini with LEDs to go along with lighted accessories like speakers, cupholders, and seat base rope lighting.
Double Bimini – A double Bimini rig will allow you to shade your Harris pontoon from stem to stern. If you want to make sure you can stay out of the sun no matter where you’re seated, this one is the pick.
All Harris Bimini tops are made from proprietary, heavy-duty 600 denier, woven, solution-dyed polyesters. They’re also triple-coated for added moisture resistance, breathability, fade resistance, and water repellency. Frames are all made from anodized aluminum. So, whichever type of Bimini top you choose, rest assured it’s a topnotch top.
